On August 29, 2020, Toronto Today published an article, “AUTOPSY: Chadwick Boseman was POISONED, homicide investigation begins.”
The claim soon went viral on social media.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar’s investigation found that the claim is false. No other media outlets besides Toronto Today have reported on the ostensible autopsy showing he was poisoned. However, many have reported on his death as a result of losing his battle with colon cancer.
Boseman was renowned for playing the superhero Black Panther. A statement posted on his Twitter account said was “diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to state IV.”
It soon became the most-liked Twitter post ever.
