A claim has been widely spread on social media that Netflix CEO, Reed Hastings was arrested by the FBI after being caught with 13,000 files of child pornography.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar didn’t find any evidence that Reed Hastings was arrested. The claim started circulating amid Netflix receiving backlash for “Cuties,” a French film about an 11-year-old girl that joins other young girls in a dance group “named ‘the cuties’ at school, and rapidly grows aware of her burgeoning femininity – upsetting her mother and her values in the process.”
The film has been criticized by some viewers and politicians for allegedly sexualizing young girls, with Republican Sen.
We also didn’t find any press release or statement on the FBI’s official website related to Hastings.
If Hasting, the CEO of Netflix, had been arrested by the FBI, it would warrant a press release from the FBI and would undoubtedly make headlines in credible media outlets.
