Users on social media shared the video in September 2020 with an accompanying claim that it shows “shivsena goons” beating up a bank manager.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar’s investigation found that the caption accompanying the video is false. Shiv Sena is a nationalist Hindu party in India that often clashes with Muslim Indians. However, while the video does depict a bank manager being assaulted, he was actually attacked by Youth Congress workers, not Shiv Sena members. We conducted a reverse image search using screenshots from the video and found that it was first published on September 10, 2020.
