The article went viral, and controversy was stirred up when #Satanism began trending on Twitter later in the day. A raging debate ensued between defenders of Satanism and those offended by the very idea of acknowledging or validating the Temple.

Misbar’s Analysis

After investigating the tenets of the Satanic Temple, Misbar discovered that the Temple deviates significantly from the Church of Satan. The Church of Satan was founded in 1966 and promotes mysticism. By contrast, The Satanic Temple describes itself as “non-theistic” and instead focuses on the secular world. They promote empathy, compassion, and equality amongst all people.
