Commotion: Accusations of Adderall Abuse
The Claim
Both President Donald Trump and Democratic Presidential Nominee Joe Biden are abusing the prescription drug Adderall.

Emerging story
Described by some doctors as “the most abused prescription drug in America,” Adderall has become more and more prevalent in recent years. Normally prescribed for people with ADHD, it is supposed to help those individuals focus their attention and behavior. However, the abuse of unprescribed Adderall has skyrocketed in the past few years.
For a person without ADHD, Adderall provides temporary boosts of heightened focus, energy, and mental fortitude. The drug, which consists entirely of amphetamines, has become very popular with students looking to gain an edge while studying or doing schoolwork.
It appears that another demographic is now facing accusations of Adderall abuse: politicians.
For years now, rumors have circulated that President Trump has regularly abused Adderall. Observers have often cited his intensely energetic performances and disheveled appearance as proof of his addiction. Now, as a result of a recent Fox News interview with Rudy Giuliani, Democratic Nominee Joe Biden also faces accusations of Adderall abuse.
Misbar’s Analysis
Despite wild allegations on all sides, there remains no definitive evidence of drug use by Donald Trump, nor Joe Biden. Some have cited “chunks of Adderall” coming out of Trump’s nose, but this is certainly not unambiguous proof. President Trump has publicly demanded that Biden take drug tests prior to and after the Presidential Debate, but Biden’s camp has rejected the notion.
