The Claim

A photo shows Chris Wallace visiting Jeffrey Epstein on a private island in 2012.

Emerging story

Following the first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden on September 29, 2020, social media posts began to circulate across the internet stating that debate moderator Chris Wallace visited Jeffrey Epstein on a private island in 2012. The posts implied that this was proof that Wallace was biased during the debate.

Users across social media continued to push this claim.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar’s investigation found that this claim is false. While the pictures are from 2012, they actually depict Chris Wallace and George Clooney together, and not Wallace and Jeffrey Epstein. In these posts, Clooney is being falsely identified as Epstein. After conducting research on the trip in question, we found that there was no mention of Epstein as being a part of the trip.

Instead, the picture in question shows Clooney with then-girlfriend Stacy Keibler boarding the boat ahead of Wallace.

The criticism regarding Wallace may stem from his role as debate moderator. However, the evidence shows no connection between Wallace and Epstein. There are multiple news articles that show the image in question with Clooney being identified.
