An image was posted on Facebook on October 10th showing an image of Joe Biden kneeling in Miami. The post read: “Taking a knee during the National Anthem!! Let that sink in… A PRESIDENTIAL candidate taking a KNEE during our NATIONAL ANTHEM!!! Taking a KNEE for the very freedoms you claim you are going to protect and defend!! NO THANKS!!” Comments showed anger towards Joe Biden and criticized him as a potential presidential candidate.

Misbar’s investigation shows that this image has not been manipulated, but the context is false. Biden did in fact take a knee. However, this did not occur during the national anthem. At the time of this occurrence, there was no music playing. The video of the event is below.
Biden was attending an event at the Little Haiti Community Center located in Miami, Florida. Near the end of the event, he was engaging in a photo shoot when the viral photo was captured. The journalist that took the picture, Jacqueline Charles, has helped clear up confusion on the image. She said: “I took a photo of the Vice President… He had just finished addressing the group when at the end of the event someone asked for a photo with him and the dance troupe in the background.”
While Joe Biden did in fact kneel, he was not making any statements or remarks against the national anthem.
