Emerging story
Social media users have been publishing a clip of Macron smacked in the head with an egg. The video shows he was in the middle of a conversation when it struck him. Security staff rushed forward to protect him but he was already smeared in the yolk.
Social media shared the video using hashtags trending since Macron’s statement concerning Muslims. Users claimed he was egged in response of his controversial comments on the Islamic Religion.

Misbar’s investigation found the circulating claims false. The circulating video was uploaded in March 2017. 
The 2017 clip showing Emmanuel Macron being splattered with an egg, is being shared online falsely linking it to the French president's recent remarks defending free speech following the death of Samuel Paty.
It’s also worth mentioning that Emmanuel Macron was pelted with eggs in 2016. As Macron visited the office in Montreuil he came face to face with a group of workers and Communist Party members who threw eggs at him and one hit him on the side of the head as he entered the building.
The circulating video is old and is evidently not related to the recent protests.
