Misbar’s Analysis

South Korea has an extensive vaccination program. Millions have been inoculated with the flu vaccine. At the time of this writing, 48 people who took the vaccine died a few weeks later, prompting some (usually antivaxxers) to question the safety of the vaccination program.

However, Misbar’s investigation found that not all of those 48 people died from vaccination. Most of them died from other causes, such as cardiovascular problems and other disorders. The government concluded that at leas 26 of the cases are from non-vaccination causes.

This number is also exceedingly small. In South Korea, 9.4 million people have been inoculated with a flu shot since September. The ambitious plan seeks to vaccinate 30 million people total, 60 percent of the country’s 54 million population. 48 deaths is about 0.0005 percent of the total people vaccinated. In the US (South Korean flu stats are hard to find,) the lethality of the 2019 flu was about .1 percent. Flu vaccines will also help alleviate the strain on South Korean hospitals, which are already dealing with the pandemic.
