Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar has discovered that according to Zambiareports.com, former President Rupiah Banda has been diagnosed with colon cancer. Mr. Chibeza Mfune, the Deputy Administrative Officer in the office of the Fourth President, said that 83-year-old former Banda said he decided to announce his illness because he once served Zambians as their Republican President.
According to the Zambianeye.com, the past president’s first wife and second wife both have battled cancer. In a statement to Timescapemag.com, Mr. Banda, 83, said: “Although this is a personal and private matter, which was initially only known by my close relatives… the Zambian people, who honored me with the privilege of serving them as Head of State, for which I will remain forever grateful and indebted, deserved to know that I have been diagnosed with cancer of the colon.”
In Zambia, health experts are worried that an increasingly modern lifestyle is contributing to rising cases of the disease. Urban living, busy schedules, a little bit more money to spend as well as a taste for fried foods is attracting people of all ages to "cancer-causing" ingredients. According to one study of colon cancer in Zambia, the mean age at diagnosis is 48.6 years and 62% are males.
The social media claims are true; past President Rupiah Banda has been diagnosed with colon cancer.
