A video circulating on Twitter shows the new Xbox Series X with smoke coming out of the top of it. The video shows this happening to multiple Xbox Series X users.
The video quickly got over one million views. Twitter users reacted by bashing the new Xbox during its launch week, claiming that the PS5 is superior.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar’s investigation shows that these videos are fake. The smoke coming out of the Xbox Series X was likely vape smoke blown into the bottom of the Xbox and coming out of the top. A video showing a man blowing vape smoke into his Xbox Series X shows that this is most likely how the other videos were created.
The official Twitter of Xbox has since tweeted “We can’t believe we have to say this, but please do not blow vape smoke into your Xbox Series X.”
This false claim is likely the work of internet trolls looking to stir up controversy in the Sony vs Microsoft console war. Both companies released their next-gen consoles last week with the Xbox Series X released on November 10th and the PS5 released on November 12th.
