Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar’s investigation found that the claim is true. As of the time of this writing, Biden has at least 79.1 million votes, which is nearly 10 million more than the 69.5 million votes President Barack Obama received in 2008.
President Donald Trump also beat Obama’s record with around 73.5 million votes. It was the highest voter turnout in recent history, likely largely because of the availability of mail-in ballots and early voting due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The U.S. usually trails behind other developed countries in terms of voter turnout, but this year around 66% of eligible voters cast a vote.
