Musk Didn’t Say All News is Controlled By "New World Order"

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceEx, said that the media is controlled by the “new world order” (a term sometimes used to describe a global shadow government).

In May 2018 Newspunch, published an article titled “Elon Musk: 99.9% Of Media Is Owned By The ‘New World Order.’” The article alleges that Musk said that society is controlled by a new world order.
In November 2020, the claim went viral on social media.
Misbar’s Analysis
While the article’s title frames itself as a direct quote, it’s not. Newspunch drew their own conclusions from a series of tweets. Musk tweeted, “Who do you think *owns* the press? Hello.” This tweet wasn’t a standalone tweet, however. He was saying it in reference to a journalist who asserted that polls are unreliable, as they are conducted by “powerful people.” Musk said that the same powerful people also control the press, so you can’t trust one without the other.
This isn’t the only time Newspunch posted fake news. They have articles about the illuminati and aliens, in addition to antivaxxer propaganda.
