China Isn’t Giving Orders to Biden Via State Media

It’s hard to say who first came up with this narrative, but many right-leaning publications including Breitbart asserted that Biden had started receiving orders from Beijing. These directives came from the Global Times, a CCP-run news organization with a decidedly nationalist bent. More specifically, they came from an article titled “It's time for Biden's team to partner with China to cope with virus crisis, economy.”

Misbar's investigation found that these publications are all editorializing an editorial. This article in Global Times is merely an opinion piece, an essay that espouses the author’s view on how Biden should work with China. The author hopes that Biden will rebuild Sino-American relations, cooperating in both medical research and trade with the CCP. The author also denounces Trump’s aggressive foreign policy.

As of the moment, President-Elect Joe Biden’s intentions with China are unknown. However, many experts say that he will probably be firm in his dealings with the CCP. He has referred to Chairman Xi as a “thug” and denounced the CCP’s harsh treatment of Muslims, saying that it equates to “genocide.” 

There is no evidence showing that Biden has been receiving orders from the Chinese government.
