Emerging story
In late November and early December 2020, many social media users made the claim, saying that the CDC had changed its mind about coronavirus regulation.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar’s investigation found that the CDC did change the length of time that those affected with COVID-19 should be quarantined. However, the alteration in guidance came more from concern about American workers than it did a change in science. Those afflicted with COVID-19 still have a 5% chance of passing on the virus after 7 days.
The new CDC guidelines are meant to reflect the potential for COVID-19 to be dangerous from an economic and social level, not a change in science.
