The Claim

Georgia State Senator was seen counting 2020 general election votes in Pennsylvania.

Emerging story

Following President Trump’s loss in the 2020 presidential election, images began circulating on social media that allegedly showed State Senator Elena Parent of Georgia counting votes in Pennsylvania.
Users across social media continued to push this claim.

Misbar’s Analysis

The Misbar team has determined that the claim is false. In an email sent to the Associate Press, Parent denied the allegations, saying:

“These discredited claims are being made because I told the truth to Trump’s legal team during the election hearing: No ‘evidence’ was being presented to Georgia State Senators that was new, and there is no evidence of widespread fraud in Georgia’s November election. The allegations are false. I am not depicted in the video or stills,” Parent explained. “I have not been to Pennsylvania anytime in 2020 and I have never counted ballots in a state or local election.”

The social media posts highlighting the allegation show a woman who mildly resembles Parent. A real image of Senator Parent is shown here.

Senator Parent has been receiving death threats stemming from her role in the participation of Georgia state hearings regarding alleged voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

The Misbar Team could find no credible evidence of Parent counting votes in a different state.
