Misleading: Vaccine Causes Nurse to Pass Out

A nurse passed out on live TV from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

On December 18, 2020, Facebook user Taylor Marshall posted a live video in which he made the claim.
It soon took off on social media.
Some even claimed that the nurse in the video later died due to complications from the vaccine.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar’s investigation found that the claim is misleading. The video does show Tiffany Dover, a nurse at CHI Memorial in Chattanooga, Tennessee, becoming dizzy and falling to the ground after receiving the vaccine. However, the video shows that she never lost consciousness.
According to Dover, she has a vagal nerve response that can be triggered by something as minor as stubbing a toe. “It’s common for me,” she said. “I feel fine now.”
In the video below, taken after her syncopal episode, she explains why she became dizzy after receiving the vaccine.
Vasovagal syncope occurs because the body “overreacts to certain triggers, such as the sight of blood or extreme emotional distress.” CHI Memorial also posted on their Facebook page that Dover has fully recovered.
Because Dover fainted due to vasovagal syncope and not directly because of the vaccine, we rate this claim as misleading.
