The Claim

Chief Justice John Roberts visited Jeffrey Epstein's private island.

Emerging story

On December 17, 2020, Attorney Lin Wood tweeted that Chief Justice John Roberts was listed on Jeffrey Epstein’s flight logs to Little Saint James island, where he allegedly brought underage girls to sexually abuse.

The claim soon went viral on alternative news sites and social media, sometimes accompanied by a photo showing President Bill Clinton with several other men in the ocean or an image of the flight log.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar’s investigation found that there is no evidence that Chief Justice John Roberts ever visited Epstein’s private island or even knew Epstein. Lin Wood is known to be a QAnon conspiracy theorist; we have debunked many of QAnon’s claims before.

The photo of Clinton was actually taken in the Dominican Republic in 2017, and likely does not depict Justice Roberts, since the Supreme Court heard several oral arguments during that time.

Further, the inclusion of “John Roberts” in Epstein’s 2024-page flight log could be any John Roberts, not just Chief Justice Roberts. For example, Fox News journalist John Roberts tweeted that the John Roberts listed in the flight log is not him.

The name listed in the flight log could be one of any of the nearly 8,000 people named John Roberts in the United States.
