Di Dongsheng is a professor at Renmin University. Earlier this month, he claimed that America’s “inner circle” is controlled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). More specifically, they hold sway over some Wall Street investors, who have some influence over U.S. lawmakers. To some people’s delight, he also asserted that Trump’s trade war diminished China’s influence, but Biden’s administration will be easier to manipulate. According to the professor, the CCP would most likely use allegations against Hunter Biden to do so.
Di Dongsheng’s speech has been discussed by several news outlets, most notable Fox News’ Tucker Carlson. The CCP had since censored videos of the speech, but there are several mirrors on various video hosting websites.
The claim took off on social media in December 2020.

It’s not a stretch to say that the CCP uses their considerable wealth to influence other countries. Many American companies invest in China, some of which employ lobbyists working in D.C. To what extent their influence reaches is unknown.
What’s notable about Di Dongsheng’s speech is his claim that Biden’s administration will be easy to manipulate. While it’s probable that Biden won’t initiate a trade war, it’s unlikely that he will be friendly to the CCP. Actions taken against China have bipartisan support, while Biden has made comments denouncing the CCP’s human rights violations.
