Misbar’s Analysis

The COVID-19 vaccine has already started being administered. With the advent of the vaccine, many are excited about ripping off their masks and diving back into their old social lives.

Unfortunately, that isn’t the case. Medical experts have been advised for those inoculated with the vaccine to continue wearing their masks while practicing social distancing. Until we have herd immunity – which requires 70-80 percent of the population to be vaccinated – everyone will still have to wear masks.

Misbar’s investigation found that the vaccine doesn’t make someone immune to the virus, exactly. It prevents the virus from infecting their lungs to do extensive damage, but it can still be present in the nose. Someone who has received the vaccine may feel fine, but the virus may still be active and ready to infect others. This would not be a major issue if COVID-19 weren’t airborne. Unfortunately, it is airborne, so the mere act of breathing can spread this disease. As a result, people inoculated with the vaccine will have to continue wearing masks until we can break the chain of infection.
