The Claim

A 1776 American flag is flying over White House and signaling a revolution.

Emerging story

The Hal Turner Radio Show published a blog post on January 4 with a headline that says, “1776 flag flying over White House. REVOLUTION SIGNAL." The post also states, "the 1776 flag is presently flying atop the White House in Washington, DC. It is the signal of REVOLUTION from our President! The time is here. The storm is upon us. Rise-up, America. Rise up against the fraudulent election."

Misbar’s Analysis

The Misbar team has determined that the claim is false. The blog post appears to be referring to the 13-star flag, which was the first official flag to fly after the United States was founded in 1776. The photo being circulated, however, was actually posted on Instagram by White House deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino in June 2019.

The blog post may be referring to protests happening in Washington, D.C. ahead of the electoral college’s certification of Joe Biden as the next U.S. President, but the image being circulated in that post does not indicate any such revolution. We could not find any reports of the 1776 13-star American flag being flown over the White House and the image being circulated across social media is dated from 2019. As such, we rate the claim as false.
