Emerging story
Trump's 2020 Senior Advisor Jason Miller claims that only 4 minutes and 31 seconds of President Trump’s call with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger was released by the Washington Post.
Some Twitter users reacted by defending Trump, claiming the call was edited and that the 4 minutes and 31 seconds of the call were taken out of context.
However, many people’s reactions attacked Jason Miller, with one claiming that they “listened to the entire one hour tape 2 days ago.”
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar’s investigation found this claim to be fake. The full audio and transcript were published on the Washington Post’s website as well as on CNN’s website. You need a Washington Post subscription to access it there, but the full transcript and audio are available for free on CNN.
The call took place between President Donald Trump and Georgia Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, a fellow Republican on Saturday, January 2nd. In the call, Trump pressures Raffensperger to “recalculate” the vote tally from the Presidential Election in Georgia, even saying "I just want to find 11,780 votes." This story has received a lot of coverage, with two Democratic lawmakers writing to the FBI, asking "to open an immediate criminal investigation into the president."
It seems that Jason Miller was not aware of the full recording before sending out this Tweet, looking for any possible angle to defend the President.
