Emerging story
In January 2021, news pages and accounts started circulating a video clip showing animals frozen in extreme cold, claiming that they were in Turkey.
Some users have questioned the authenticity of this video. They raised doubts about how animals would freeze while standing,
And some of them commented:
The stages of freezing are: You feel cold so you go to a place and sit alone without moving and start to lose consciousness a little bit until you die But if you die while you are standing, this is crazy
Some pages circulated the same exact video claiming it was in Turkey.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar's investigation found the claim suspicious. There is no evidence or anything to support that the claim is true.
Besides, there is no official news page that published this video.
According to Peta, the number of dogs and other animal companions who have reportedly died from causes related to cold weather since 2019, is 38.
Every year, PETA receives reports about dogs, cats, and other animals who have died after being left outdoors in cold weather.
The only incident documented this year was in Oklahoma. The circulating claim is suspicious.
