Greta Thunberg Wasn't Part of the DC Mob

Misbar has discovered that according to the Independent, a meme circulating online with the caption “nice try, Greta” compares the faces of one of the mob, photographed next to “QAnon shaman” Jake Angeli, with Thunberg’s. Some people have shared the meme as a joke while others appear to be serious about the accusation. 

Greta Thunberg, Time Magazine’s 2019 Person of the Year, is an outspoken teenage activist for climate action. She is most famous for starting a global movement to encourage students to skip school to help bring awareness to environmental issues and then speaking around the world on our need to take action to protect the environment. 

While there does appear to be some resemblance in the face shapes between the protester and Ms. Thunberg, she does not have a beard or mustache and it is highly unlikely that she was in Washington D.C. on January 6th. It does appear however, that she was following the events of the day and was active on Twitter.  

Coincidently, Greta Thunberg was very much involved in a Washington D.C. protest in September of 2019, when she encouraged American students to protest alongside her for climate change. Ms. Thunberg has been a very vocal opponent of President Trump which also makes it unlikely that she would march alongside his supporters.
