Emerging story
A viral Facebook post claims that if your account constantly gets suspended for breaking Facebook's rules there is a way to bypass it.
The news has been shared over 63,000 times on Facebook.
The post reads “For those of you that are constantly in Facebook jail like me here is a way you can avoid that. Go to your settings, then scroll down to blocking & type in 'Community Standards' after that you shouldn’t have anymore problems with your Facebook going against Community Standards.”
It ends by encouraging users to share the tip and help a friend. The post is accompanied by two screenshots that depict the user blocking “Community Standards,” with a statement saying that Standards will no longer be able to see posts, tag you, invite you to events or groups, message you, or add you as a friend.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar's investigation found this claim to be false, there is no “Community Standards” page or account that will appear for all users when blocking.
Even if the page appears and gets blocked, it is not responsible for overseeing rule violations.
The Misbar team attempted to block “Community Standards” and was instead given a list that showed results for people whose profile includes words similar to "Community Standards".
Even by restricting “Community Standards” or changing settings, violations will still be detected and your account may still be suspended.
This is because Facebook employs approximately 15,000 content moderators either internally or externally. These moderators review posts, pictures, and videos that have been flagged by artificial intelligence or reported by users about 3 million times a day, amongst other moderation tools.
There is no guaranteed way of avoiding detection when violating Facebook’s rules and Community Standards. Therefore, the best way to avoid your account getting suspended is to follow the rules.
