Misbar’s Analysis
Even though Biden has become president, alleged rumors and myths about the election persist, and Trump has filed many election-related lawsuits.
As a historically red state that turned blue, Georgia is especially controversial. Yahoo and other websites published articles like “35 voter fraud cases in Georgia turned over for prosecution.” The State Election Board announced that, as the article title implies, 35 voter fraud cases have been turned over for prosecution – that is to say, that they will go through the court system.
Some people have taken this to support their allegations of widespread voter fraud.
However, Misbar's investigation found that while these voter fraud cases are going to be prosecuted, they aren’t quite as significant as the articles imply. Many of these incidents are unimportant and have zero effect on the election’s outcome. Four felons voted despite not having the right to do so in Georgia, as did a few non-citizens. A few people submitted faulty ballots as well as ballots for the deceased. Notably, the New Georgia Project sent ballots after the deadline, while the Coalition for the People’s Agenda sent false voter applications while canvassing.
Overall, while 35 cases of voter fraud are being prosecuted, this likely would have had very minimal impact on the election; therefore, we rate this claim as commotion.
