On March 5, 2021, a hashtag started trending: #ripelon. While it’s uncertain who started the trend, Twitter users shared news articles and memes asserting that Elon Musk died from a freak car battery explosion.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar’s investigation found that all of these articles are photoshopped; there is not any verifiable evidence. For example, take this doctored Fox News article:
A quick internet search reveals that no article has been published by Fox News. Who or why someone would photoshop a fake article is beyond Misbar’s understanding. Another article shared on Twitter – that seems to be based on Business Insider – can’t be found, either. There are some deleted Tweets as well, but their validity is questionable. They are almost certainly photoshopped, as there is no evidence supporting these tweets’ existence.
It’s clear that Elon Musk is still alive, and there is not any evidence that supports the contrary. This is just a meme.
