Emerging story
Trump recently gave a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference. In the speech, he made allegations of voter fraud. Videos of the speech were shared on social media and video hosting websites such as YouTube and Vimeo.
After being reposted on several YouTube channels, videos of the speech were subsequently taken down. Many asserted that YouTube took down all videos of the speech.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar’s investigation found that there are several instances of Trump’s CPAC speech still hosted on YouTube, some of which are in full.
We can confirm, however, that some channels’ mirrors of the speech were taken down. That’s due to YouTube’s content policy. In what it says is an effort to stem the tide of misinformation, the site implemented some new rules. One such rule forbids content that says that the U.S. election was rigged. It does allow exceptions for educational and artistic contexts. YouTube moderators may not have seen reposted videos as having those contexts.
