No Evidence WHO "Played" Us Over Coronavirus
The Claim
The World Health Organization in effect confirmed to the world that it had deceived the world over false positive coronavirus cases/deaths until the inauguration of President Joe Biden.

Emerging story
On February 17, 2021, Doctor Scott Jensen, a former Minnesota state senator, posted a video to his verified Facebook page. This video opens with the statement, “You are being played.” The description of this video also contains the statement and claims that, “the WHO took their foot off the gas to slow down the number of Covid19 cases - coincidentally this happened on Inauguration Day.”
In this video, Doctor Jensen goes on to claim that the World Health Organization and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention conspired with one another. The supposed result of this conspiracy was a new directive to create fewer false positive coronavirus cases, which was announced on the day of President Joe Biden’s inauguration.
The video soon went viral on Facebook. By mid-March, 2021, it had gained over 2.3 million views on Facebook, along with almost 100,000 reactions and 15,000 comments.
Re-edits of this video also spread on conspiracy websites. For instance, on March 7th, 2021, a re-edit of the video formed the basis of an article on 21st Century Wire. This article claimed that the World Health Organization had confirmed that the world had “been played” on coronavirus. This article soon gained over 1,000 shares on Facebook and Twitter.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar’s investigation shows that Jensen’s video is full of inaccurate claims. For instance, there is no evidence that the World Health Organization conferred with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to create a directive upon Biden’s inauguration. On January 20th, 2021, the World Health Organization did update its news page with a notice. However, this notice was also dated to January 13th. The notice clarified previous information provided to in vitro diagnostic medical device users on December 14th, 2020.
Our analysis reveals that the notice that appeared on the World Health Organization website on January 20th, 2021 ran to 370 words. Its main purpose was to inform laboratory professionals and the users of in vitro medical devices to read the instructions for use of the devices carefully. The purpose of this instruction was for the users to determine if the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) positivity threshold needed to be adjusted to reduce the risk of a false positive identification of coronavirus.
Many organizations have confirmed that this information was not intended to drastically reduce the number of coronavirus cases to make a political figure look more impressive. In fact, the World Health Organization had received only 10 reports of problems related to PCR testing by January 28th.
In essence, the information that Doctor Jensen used as evidence of the World Health Organization “playing” people was just a notice for medical professionals to be more diligent.
