Marvin Hagler's Death Was Not Caused by the COVID Vaccine

Emerging story
On March 13, former boxer Thomas Hearns stated that his once athletic rival, Marvin Hagler, was in the ICU. On his Instagram page, Hearns wrote that he had had to go to the ICU because of “the after effects of the vaccine.”
Shortly after Hearns published this post, Marvin Hagler’s verified Facebook page stated that Hagler had died.
As this post did not list a cause of death, people online began stating that the vaccine had caused Hagler’s death.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar’s investigation shows this claim to be false. Hagler’s death was not caused by the COVID-19 vaccine.
On March 15, Hagler’s widow, Kay G. Hagler, posted an update on her husband’s Facebook page, denying claims about the vaccine. “I do NOT accept to read some stupid comment without knowing really what happen [sic],” she wrote. “For sure wasn’t the vaccine that caused his death.
The 66 year-old has been remembered as one of the greatest middleweight prizefighters in history. His official website claimed that he died near his home in New Hampshire, due to natural causes. Further details have not been provided to news outlets. It is also unclear whether Hagler was vaccinated.
The CDC reports that so far, the vaccine has not officially contributed to any patient deaths.
It appears that Hearns mistakenly assumed that his former rival was suffering from vaccine side effects, and this led to online misinformation when Hagler did pass.
