Contre l'intégrisme and other social media accounts claimed that Turkey is giving a Muslim Brotherhood member stood 90 days to liquidate their properties and leave their land, implying that they leave the country. The posts add that Turkey is also studying the possibility of seizing the bank accounts of 74 of the organization's leaders who Egypt wants.
Misbar’s Analysis
The Misbar investigation found the claim to be fake. Turkish authorities have not decided to expel nor ask the Muslim brotherhood to liquidate their properties or seize their leaders' bank accounts. Misbar's team didn't find any reports related to the claim in Turkish agencies.
Furthermore, Yassin Aktay, an advisor to Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, confirmed in an interview on Aljazeera that the news circulating about the handing over of opponents is fabricated and will not happen and “Turkey can't extradite anyone, not to Egypt, or to any country that carries out the death.” He added that handing over the opponents had during the ongoing dialogue between Turkey and Egypt.
He also denied Turkey was planning to expel or hand over Egyptian journalists and political opponents to Cairo.
There is no request from Egypt to extradite anyone in Turkey because they know that he will refuse. The claim comes amidst talks between Egypt and Turkey for reconciliation.
Given the findings, the Misbar team confirms the claim as untrue.
