On March 22, 2021, something strange was happening on Twitter: #sex2 was trending.
What Sex2 is was unclear. It befuddled many Twitter users, just as it did here at Misbar.
With thousands of tweets with hashtag, many appear to believe that Sex2 is real.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar's investigation found that sex2 is a meme. While some tweets assert that it’s a blockbuster film, a pornographic flick, or a video game, the truth is that it’s none of those. Initially, it may have been a joke tweet in which the user wondered why sex doesn’t have a sequel.
The meme has had many permutations since. On Reddit, a user alleged that a Sex2 film would be directed by Don Cheadle, a prolific actor and director.
Then, the date was set. One tweet featured a discussion between a CGI character from Angry Birds and Ben Shapiro. They apparently planned on seeing the movie Sex2 on September 22, 2020. Due to the pandemic, their planned evening was cancelled and pushed back to March 22, 2021.
Since the hashtag appears to be nothing but a meme, we rate this claim as commotion.
