Emerging story
A picture has circulated on Facebook and Twitter claiming that it shows an eagle catching an Israeli surveillance drone flying over Gaza.
The same claim has been circulating for years.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar's investigation found the circulating claims false.
A Google reverse image search found that the picture has been online since March 7, 2016.
The picture was found on Getty with the same date, with a caption: “An eagle of the Guard from Above company, grasps a drone during a police exercise in Katwijk, on March 7, 2016. The bird of prey can get drones from the air by catching them with his legs.”
The BBC also published a video report about Dutch police trained eagles to take down unauthorized drones on March 8, 2016.
The picture isn't related to Gaza or the Israeli force's spy drones in any way.
