The Claim
President Buhari is under house arrest in London.

Emerging story
Reno Omokri, a famous political activist and self-styled ‘FreeLeahSharibu’ campaigner, tweeted President Buhari is under house arrest in London.
Reno alleged the reason for the protest was that General Buhari budgeted more money for Aso Rock State House Clinic than on all federal teaching hospitals combined.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar’s investigation found this claim is false. No evidence that President Buhari is under house arrest due to Reno's protest.
President Buhari had arrived in the UK on March 30th as scheduled for a routine medical check-up, the first since the outbreak of the Coronavirus. Still, there is no evidence that he is staying over at the Abuja House, 2 Campden Hill, Kensington, W8 7AD in London or under ‘house arrest’ as claimed by Reno.
Notably, there was no official reception upon his arrival since this was a private visit, and officials of the government have kept his whereabouts top secret as claims are rife that he is, in fact, not at the stated address.
In a bid to counter the protestant's voices, the pro-Buhari team said they have mobilized and scheduled to pay £75 for each Nigerian that turns up for a counter-protest in support of the president.
Reno Omokri had given reasons why Nigerians in the Uk embarked on the protest. According to him, the killing of EndSARS protesters in 2020, Nigeria’s hospitals, and Nigeria’s unemployment rate were the top reasons for the demonstration. According to him, “Only 5% of Nigerians are covered by doctors. @MBuhari forced himself on Nigeria. He promised to do better than his predecessors but has made Nigeria the world headquarters for extreme poverty and bequeathed us the 2nd highest unemployment on Earth at 33% #HarassBuhariOutOfLondon.”
President Buhari is expected back in the country by the second week of April.
