Emerging story
Shortly after DMX’s death was confirmed on Friday 9th March, several high profile social media users began tweeting that contrary to reports that he’d suffered from a drug overdose, DMX’s heart attack was caused by the COVID-19 vaccine. Among them was popular singer and songwriter Ian Brown, who tweeted to his 165.1k followers, “RiP DMX...... Murdered by Big Pharma” along with a news article by Daily News USA titled, “DMX Received Covid Vaccine Days Before Heart Attack – Family Says NO DRUGS! (EXCLUSIVE)”
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar’s investigation found that there is no proof that DMX’s death was caused by a COVID-19 vaccine. We earlier reported on his passing here and found that he’d suffered from a heart attack after a drug overdose as attested to by reputable news sites such as the BBC and the New York Times. The official statement from DMX’s family neither mentions the COVID-19 vaccine, nor a COVID-19 infection. Hospital officials stated he’d suffered a catastrophic cardiac event.
These false claims originated from MediaTakeOut, a gossip style website, which has a history of posting misinformation. The website claims that an unnamed member of the Simmon’s family had granted them an exclusive interview.
The platform also claims that the alleged family member said that “she - and the family - are considering taking legal action against news publications prematurely concluding that DMX suffered a drug overdose,” but nowhere in the official statement from the family is this mentioned.
Lastly, it is important to note that there have been no confirmed deaths caused by the vaccine, according to the CDC. COVID-19 vaccines are proven to be safe and effective and have been administered to over 700 million people around the world.
In conclusion, there is no evidence that a COVID-19 vaccine caused the rapper’s death, nor are there any reports that he ever even received a vaccine.
