Misbar’s Analysis

Doctor Faheem Younus, Chief of Infectious Diseases at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health (UM UCH), Maryland USA, tweeted debunking the COVID-19 vaccine should not be taken around periods claim.

Misbar did not find any research on how vaccines can affect the female menstrual cycle. However, several doctors on Twitter also refuted the claim and called everyone to get vaccinated.

As the claim is neither backed by data nor evidence, researchers are currently investigating if vaccines affect the period cycle. The study is ongoing, but responses so far show that abnormal periods post-vaccine are not uncommon. However, there is no evidence to suggest that people should avoid getting vaccinated for this reason.
