The Claim

A video depicts oxygen tankers being sent to India from Saudia Arabia.

Emerging story

Following India's medical oxygen acute shortage, a 30-second video that shows oxygen tanker went viral. The video circulating claims that Saudia Arabia sent 80 metric tonnes of liquid oxygen to India.

Misbar’s Analysis

Oxygen was indeed shipped from Saudi Arabia, but the video circulating is unrelated to the event. Last week, Saudi Arabia shipped 80 metric tons of oxygen to India to alleviate acute shortages of the lifesaving gas due to the record surge in coronavirus infections in India.

Misbar's investigation found the circulating footage not related to Saudia Arabia. The footage shows empty tankers being sent from Mumbai to Visakhapatnam to load them with liquid medical oxygen.

Central Railway tweeted the same video showing the first "Oxygen Express" carrying seven empty tankers departed from Kalamboli.

The circulating claim is misleading.
