Emerging story
Ofir Gendelman, a spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, posted a video on his Twitter today, claiming that the Palestinian resistance launched rockets from populated areas in the Gaza Strip. Other Twitter users claimed that it was a video of the Palestinian resistance's bombing of the cities of Tel Aviv and Ashkelon in response to the occupied forces' violation of the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Misbar’s Analysis
MENA: Misbar’s investigation found that this claim is Misleading, as the video is old and has nothing to do with current events in the Gaza Strip. It has been on YouTube since June 2018 and shows Syrian regime forces launching missile strikes against opposition sites in the Daraa Al-Balad neighborhood in Daraa Governorate, Southern Syria.
The circulation of the video comes after the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military arm of Hamas, announced that it had directed two missile strikes: one at the occupied city of Ashkelon and the second on the city of Jerusalem. The targeting of Israeli settlements came in response to the Israeli occupation forces' incursion into the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Today, the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced that the number of victims of the Israeli bombing of Gaza had reached 53, including 14 children, in addition to the injury of 320 people with various injuries. The Israeli bombing comes in a military operation announced by the occupying power against the Gaza Strip.
