Instgram Post Draws Skewed Narrative in Favor of Israel

Our investigation found that Israel prompted retaliation from the Palestinians first when it tried to block the gathering of some Palestinians at the beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Israeli soldiers used lethal force, heightened tensions, and then subsequently attempted to force the eviction of Palestinian families from Sheikh Jarrah been a Palestinian stronghold in the occupied East Jerusalem, to pave the way for Jewish settlers.

The situation quickly escalated when Israeli police officials stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem’s Old City, which happens to be one of the holiest sites in Islam earlier this week, and ended up wounding Palestinian worshippers there. This prompted the Palestinian ruling faction controlling Gaza, Hamas, to retaliate by launching rockets towards Israel. According to the New York Times, tension again escalated as Israel assassinated several commanders of Hamas and had the previous night bombarded the Gaza Strip with a series of airstrikes. The militants promptly responded with a barrage of rockets targeted at cities across southern Israel. With Israel's continued airstrikes, the death toll has been mounting. On the Israeli end, it says seven people have been killed by rocket fire, including the death of an Israeli soldier, civilian casualties of three women and two children, with dozens wounded. With the number of casualties on both ends, it is evident that Palestine is recording more. Jerusalem has been a hotbed of a violent dispute between Jews and the Arabs for more than a hundred years. Israel’s bombardment of the Gaza Strip with its attendant casualties rising by the minute has prompted a global protest against Israel’s continued attack, as reported by Aljazeera. There are currently fears of a full-scale war with the increase in the exchange of fire from both sides.
