The Claim

Palestinians in Gaza fabricate death to fool international media and gain support.

Emerging story

MENA: Ofir Gendelman, Prime Minister Netanyahu's spokesperson to the Arab media, shared a video on Twitter with the caption, “Hamas, just like the other Palestinian terror organizations, is known for the efforts it's making to fool intl media and public opinion & gain support. We see very much alive Palestinians in Gaza pose as bodies for the cameras but can't stop moving. Don't believe Hamas.” The video shows a group of young men playing dead. Many other users shared the video, finding it funny and advising others not to believe Hamas. Others mention Pallywood, a combination of Palestine and Hollywood, to describe supposed Palestinian fabrications and media distortions to win over public relations.

Misbar’s Analysis

The Misbar investigation found the claim to be misleading. Our search revealed the video posted on TikTok by Moslem Abo Rabea on March 26th, therefore video predating the latest aggressions. The TikTok profile shows the user lives in Nazareth, not Gaza.

The people in the video are known as Abu Layl, Abu Raad, and Abu Rayan, who all have Down syndrome represent themselves as the kings of TikTok, as shown in this video. The Kings of Tikitok post Down Syndrome awareness content on Youtube. The circulating video illustrates how Down syndrome patients are affected under Israeli occupation.

Given the revelations, the Misbar team confirms this video as misleading and shifts attention from the actual mortality and destruction ongoing, being reported by multiple credible sources on the ground.
