Emerging story
A wide-spreading video is circulated over social media, especially Facebook, showing many jeeps gathering in the middle of the desert, with a voice of chanting supporting Al-Aqsa and Palestine. The video is shared with titles claiming that it shows Egyptians gathering close to Sinai to help Palestinians and victims of Israeli bombardments. Some pages shared this video claiming it’s showing Egyptian medical staff waiting to offer medical care for victims. This video started to spread as Israeli airstrikes were hitting the Gaza strip, and the number of Palestinian civilian victims was increasing.
Misbar’s Analysis
MENA: MIsbar's investigation found the circulating claim to be fake. The audio source dubbed on this video published related to the latest Israeli aggression on Gaza, showing dozens of Palestinian youth gathering and promising to save the Al-Aqsa mosque. In addition, the video scenes and audio aren’t well synchronized, and the video doesn’t show any visual acts of supporting Gaza or Palestine as the aim of this gathering, like holding Palestine flags or the traditional scarf.
The clip circulating is composed by mixing some scenes of desert car gathering. The video circulating is not related to the 65 tonnes of medical aid sent to Gaza by Egypt.
