Emerging story
The end of May brought reports on Facebook and Twitter that Dominion voting systems lost their lawsuits against Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell. Dominion has been suing the two former Trump lawyers for defamation stemming from their public remarks that widespread voting fraud took place because of Dominion’s voting machines. Social media users claimed that Dominion lost the lawsuits.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar’s analysis proved that these claims were unsubstantiated and Dominion’s lawsuits are still in process. No major news source reports the lawsuits are over. Fox News Dominion is also suing Fox News for defamation and seeks $1.6 Billion to cover the damages, but Fox News has not reported this claim. Also, the cases are still clearly active in the U.S. Court System.
After the November 2020 Presidential Election several attorneys representing the incumbent candidate Donald Trump spoke publicly about their belief of widespread voter fraud and of an alleged stolen election. Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell are each being sued for $1.3 billion in damages. Powell’s own lawyer has since declared that no “reasonable person” would believe what she was claiming. Regardless of her claims of holding an unpopular opinion, her lawsuit is not over.
