The Claim

Democratic senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema vote with Republicans more often than they do with fellow Democrats.

Emerging story

On June 1, U.S. President Joe Biden said, “I hear all the folks on TV saying, ‘Why didn’t Biden get this done?’ Well, because Biden only has a majority of, effectively, four votes in the House and a tie in the Senate with two members of the Senate who vote more with my Republican friends.”

His quote insinuated that moderate Democratic senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema vote with Republicans more than with Democrats. The claim soon went viral across social media.
