Social media users are reporting that some states in the U.S. are giving away marijuana as a reward for getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar learned that from June 7 to July 12, 2021, Washington state licensed cannabis retailers are allowed to provide one joint to adult consumers who receive a vaccination at an in-store vaccination clinic according to the Washington State Cannabis and Liquor Board. Only one complimentary joint may be provided to a customer who receives a first or second COVID-19 vaccine dose at the event.
On April 20, 2021, any adult over the age of 21 was able to snag a joint in New York at a “Joints for Jabs” event in Union Square Park as long as they showed a valid coronavirus vaccination record card according to the New York Post. By noon, more than 500 joints were given away.
According to AZcentral.com, in certain clinics in Arizona, those who are vaccinated at the clinics and are 21 years of age or older can receive a free pre-rolled joint and an edible cannabis gummy. The initiative is called “Snax for Vaxx.”
