Misbar's investigation found that the circulating claim has been circulating since 2020. An FIR was lodged against the proprietor of the furniture manufacturing company.
A case was registered against the furniture shop owner in Maharashtra's Thane district after publishing the misleading advertisement, which claimed mattresses sold at his shop cure COVID-19.
The report mentions that when police questioned the shop owner, he could not produce any medical proof to back his advertisement. The shop owner published the advertisement without any medical research or certification.
