MENA: The Kuwaiti Information Ministry announced that Kuwaiti citizens who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 would not travel abroad.
Several MPs have recently criticized the Council of Ministers' decisions regarding COVID-19, accusing the government of violating citizens' right to travel.
After the Cabinet decided on Thursday that unvaccinated people cannot enter large malls from June 27, protests were held at Al Arada Square in Kuwait. Protesters said forcing people to take the COVID-19 vaccine is an attack on freedoms.
Kuwaiti demonstrators organized a protest calling what they said ‘forced vaccination’ an attack on the freedoms. They were seen holding banners that read ‘No prejudice to our freedoms, no to compulsory vaccination, my body is my choice.’
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health reported that it has used about 3.1 million doses or vaccinated 72.4 percent of the population for six months since the beginning of the vaccination campaign at the end of December 2020.
