Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar discovered that New Yorkers will add a second Statue of Liberty to their collection on July 4, 2021, thanks to a gift from France. According to ABC6.com, the new bronze statue, nicknamed the “little sister,” is one-sixteenth the size of the one that stands on Liberty Island. The new statue, being loaned by a Paris museum to cement Franco-American friendship, will first be displayed on Ellis Island, and then will eventually move to Washington DC, where it will stay for ten years.
According to TravelandLeisure.com, the original Statue of Liberty was a gift from France to the U.S. in 1885, as a symbol of the Franco-American friendship. It is recognized as a universal symbol of freedom and democracy.
The new statue will weigh over 450 kilograms (992 pounds) and be just shy of 10 feet tall. It was first made in 2009 according to CNN.com. You can follow Little Sister’s journey to America on Twitter.com.
