Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar's investigation found that according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the Fourth of July will once again be the most dangerous day to drive in the U.S. this year. More people die in automobile accidents on the Fourth of July than any other day of the year.
Health experts say impaired driving is the number one reason people are sent to the ER on the Fourth of July. A report from insurance industry experts looked at road fatalities on all major U.S. holidays. Between 2016 and 2018, there were more fatal car crashes — 1,349 — on Independence Day than any other day. Forty percent of those accidents involved an impaired driver. Most of the fatalities involving an impaired driver happen at night, occurring from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
New Year’s Eve is not even one of the top 10 deadliest driving days of the year in America according to their report.
