Misbar’s Analysis
Biz Markie has not died, but he is currently under medical care. His manager Jenny Izumi confirmed this in a statement to Rolling Stone: “Biz is still under medical care, surrounded by professionals who are working hard to provide the best health care possible,” she said. "Biz’s wife and family are touched by the outpouring of love and admiration from his friends, peers, and fans alike. At this time, we ask for your continued thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
Specific details about his condition have not been released. Markie was reportedly hospitalized last year for a condition related to his Type II diabetes. He opened up about his health struggles in a 2014 interview, in which he said that he had managed to lose 140 pounds that year. He described his new diet and exercise habits and said he was feeling great.
