Cameron Herrin's Prison Sentence Was Not Reduced
Cameron Herrin, 21, was racing a friend in his Ford Mustang in 2018 (Twiiter).

The Claim

Cameron Hearn's prison sentence was reduced from 24 years to 12 after running over a mother and her child with his car.

Emerging story

Social media pages and users across the MENA region are circulating news claiming that the US court has reduced the prison sentence for a young man named Cameron Hearn from 24 to 12 years old. Hearn killed a mom and her baby when he hit them at 100mph on a Florida boulevard.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar's investigation found the circulating false. US official sources did not announce a change of the court's sentence against Cameron Hearn. The street racer took the lives of a 24-year-old mother and her daughter when he hit them at 100mph. He has been handed a 24-year prison sentence. The incident occurred when he was racing with his friend down a boulevard in Tampa, Florida, with the Mustang when he was 18 years old.
